Byron Brown
Of Note: In the state Senate, Sen. Byron Brown was publicly supportive of LGBTQ tolerance and civil rights. Upon entering the Mayor's race in 2005, candidate Byron Brown distanced himself from the LGBTQ community, and has not sought LGBTQ support or the endorsement of SDWNY since. In 2010, Mayor Brown actively worked against the domestic partnership legislation championed by Councilmembers Rivera and LoCurto. When the legislation was passed by the council, the Mayor refused to sign off on the legislation, which ultimately did not matter, as the legislation passed with a veto-proof majority. |
